Ashamed? I Think Not!

I often get asked, “Aren’t you embarrassed or ashamed to publicly call yourself an introvert?” My reply is always, “Are you ashamed of who you are?”

In my research I found several famous introverts who I highly doubt are ashamed of themselves and who also share my personality type of INFP. They include John F. Kennedy, Jr., Julia Roberts, Lisa Kudrow, Helen Keller, Tom Brokaw, Dick Clark and William Shakespeare. The accomplishments of each of these individuals is great and do not fit, in any way shape or form, what the general public views as introversion.

Ashamed of myself? I think not! Heck I’m in the same brotherhood as JFK and Julia Roberts. :)

I completely agree with you as an INTP and say, “WEAR YOUR BANNER HIGH AND PROUD!” I never understood the assumption we should be ashamed of our nature. I’m glad to see there are those speaking out that it’s alright to be introverted!

So what’s wrong with being introverted?

My wife is an introvert… and I’m not… not by a long shot, and she is one of THE smartest people…ever.

Being an introvert is wierd or sick, it is just a way peeople some people are.

I am an introvert and have written about it in my blog. It’s not a major issue in my writing but it is a very important part of a total outlook that is positive and energetic. Introverts may pursue things that interest them with as much energy as extroverts. They are just going in a different direction some of the time!
